Cork is a material of vegetable origin from the bark of cork oaks, light and with great insulating power. Portugal, with an area of 730 thousand hectares of cork oak, is responsible for more than 50% of the world production of cork.
Cork is extracted from the bark of the cork oak, which can only be removed when the tree reaches 25-30 years of growth, and after that first extraction, only every 9 years.
