Rdio was my first “paid service that I could have for free”. It was that good.
Rdio had the best design and the best service for a music streaming company, with many features that Apple, Google, and Spotify to this day haven’t implemented such as social discovery, weekly releases for bands that you like, an algorithmic radio that worked, among others. I have never discovered that many good artists in my life, not even when I was a teenager during the Napster days.
Unfortunately, it also had the worst cross-platform approach possible: Flash on desktop and Xamarin for mobile. I had constant issues and crashes using it on my iPhone until I’ve finally given up and switched to Apple Music (I never liked Spotify’s design and business model).
