David Bruce was awarded the OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours on 12 June 2021, as Founding Trustee of The Bruce Trust and as immediate past-President of The Kennet & Avon Canal Trust.
From January 2016 The Bruce Trust’s boats were gifted to and have been operated by the specially-formed “Bruce Branch” of the Kennet and Avon Canal Trust. The four boats are continuing to operate from Great Bedwyn and all the administration is being undertaken by Kennet and Avon Canal Trust staff in Devizes.
The Bruce Trust retains its current board of Trustees and Rebecca Bruce remains as Director but its focus for the future will be more on fundraising and grant-giving for the specific benefit of people with special needs to enjoy the outstanding facilities now provided by the Bruce Branch of the Kennet & Avon Canal Trust.
