Founded in 1951, the British-German Association is a British charity that promotes mutual understanding and friendship between the UK and Germany.
Forum and Events Forum and Events The BGA is the principal forum for public discussion of British-German issues in the UK. We organise an average of two events a month, both online and face-to-face. We stream a podcast series on “Understanding Germany”. And we publish an informative monthly cultural newsletter. Membership of the BGA is open to anyone sharing our charitable objectives, and offers the opportunity to interact with people sharing an interest in Germany. We currently have well over 500 members,
The BGA promotes the teaching of the German language in British secondary schools. Membership of our “Youthbridge” programme is free for any secondary school teaching German, and currently attracts over 500 schools. Youthbridge schools receive free access to our online events, podcasts and newsletter. We provide advice on offering school trips and exchanges. We link schools to other relevant organisations such as the Goethe Institut and UK-German Connection. We work with leading educationalists and the DfE
