8 months ago RTL-SDR sniffing ceiling fan After dealing with a few failures of poorly constructed ceiling fan remotes, I decided to investigate the RF commands being exchanged. Using my RTL-SDR dongle and MCRC1 remote was able to successfully capture the signal, determine it was using On-Off Keying (ASK) and demodulate the transmitted data. The first step was using the FCC ID on the remote to find the transmit frequency.
