Breitling Elementary school was named after Frank W. Breitling. Mr. Breitling was an educator in Mobile County and Grand Bay for many years. He was born in Marengo County on July 31, 1898. He dreamed of entering the Naval Academy but the loss of his arm when he was a teenager forced him to find another career. Luckily for many people, he entered the field of education. His first teaching job was at a school in Santuck, Alabama. In 1921, he and his wife,
Goldie Farris Breitling, moved to Mobile County. Here, he served as principal of Theodore School, an administrator with the Pre-Vocational School in Mobile, and as a teacher at Murphy High School. He received his B.S. degree from Peabody in 1929. He then came to Mobile County High School and served as the principal for thirty years. He touched many students and parents lives along the way as was evident the day our school was dedicated. Many former students attended to show their love for Mr. Breitling. Man
