This year I was once again able to carry on one of my favorite classroom traditions: inviting former students to talk to my current students. Through social media, I reached out to all of my former students and asked if any of them would be interested in participating, and I was thrilled at the response! Some were unable to attend in person, and others volunteered to attend virtually.
I asked each interested alum for a preferred time and date, and from there, I set up a schedule for the first five days of class. I made sure that each class featured one or two alumni at the beginning and end of the period.
