“Midseason” I had a plan to write about something else, something more “literary” and as such more pertinent to you folks who are the readers. Maybe I could put this off for a month or two. But baseball isn’t a month-or-two thing. It’s a now thing. The game is tonight. Or this afternoon. He’s twenty-four, and will retire soon, in the grand scheme of things. Right this moment, he’s flirting with .400, or on a pace to hit 45 dingers. That will change next week.
