Bloomington United for Youth (BUY) presented the 18th annual volunteer recognition awards the evening of Thursday, February 11th. Only this year, like nearly everything else, the awards were with a new spin and an adventure in technology as a fully live virtual event aired on BEC-TV’s many video platforms. Honors were given in 4 categories, with nominators describing the honoree’s notable achievements. Then honorees accepted the awards on air with plaques having been delivered to them earlier that day. Additional special thanks to Bloomington Boy Scout Troop 374 for the virtual flag ceremony, Kennedy High School cellist, Marcus Jenson, for live entertainment, Tom Ringdal and Thomas Starks for being exceptional emcees to an empty room, and the crew at BEC-TV for making this inaugural event happen.
