June 14, 2023 - Eye-ringed Tody-tyrant ( Hemitriccus orbitatus ) These tyrant flycatchers are found in humid forests in southeastern Brazil. Foraging alone or in pairs, they capture insects on the undersides of leaves. Little is known about their breeding behavior, though their nests may be purse or ball-shaped with side entrances. Females lay clutches of two eggs. They are classified as Near threatened by the IUCN because of population declines due to habitat loss and fragmentation.

They eat invertebrates and larvae, as well as fruit, flower buds, and nectar, foraging in pairs or small groups and joining mixed-species flocks outside of the breeding season.
