Description: The Bimini Shark Lab is a registerd 501c3 nonprofit organization and research station located in South Bimini, The Bahamas. The Shark Lab offers internships for early career scientists; educational courses and expeditions for students and shark enthusiasts; and hosts film crews and visiting scientists. EDUCATION We strive to educate future scientists by providing opportunities for students to design and conduct research projects at the undergraduate and graduate level, to complete advanced university degrees in the marine sciences; and through voluntary training as interns, thus advancing their field experience and skills.
CONSERVATION We work to enhance conservation and awareness by disseminating our results to both the public (tours of our facility, talks, TV documentaries, social media, posters and blogs) and scientists (peer-reviewed journals, conference presentations and posters, fishery reports and books).
CONSERVATION ACHEIVEMENTS SUPPORT OUR MISSION The Bimini Biological Field Station operates year round, allowing students, visitors, and scientists the opportunity to learn more about sharks and the important role they play. The generosity of our supporters allows us to continue to our long term research efforts, and contribute to the conservation of many elasmobranch species.
