Berriedale Farms is located among the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia in the Cowpasture River Valley. Our heritage family farm is arguably the first in the UnitedStates to be protected by both a Land and Rare Breeds Conservation easement. The Nature Conservancy oversees our land conservation best management practices. And we closely collaborate with the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy on the protection of Red Poll cattle –an ALBC “threatened” heritage breed.

Heritage Red Poll cattle are given highmarks for grass-fed marbling, flavor with all the complexities of pasture and fine-grained-tenderness by The Saveur Chef's Magazine and discriminating cooks around the world. The largest herd of Red Poll cattle is personally owned by the Queen of England. While one of the smallest herds of Red Poll c attle grazes on native grasses and legumes at Berriedale Farms.
