A graduate of Pace University, Klarberg earned his BBA (1981) and MS in Taxation (1985) before serving as an Adjunct Professor of Taxation at the university from 1985-1989. Upon earning his BBA, Klarberg launched his career at Deloitte–with an 11-year stint that included serving as the National Director of Sports and Entertainment.
