His parents hoped he would become a Rabbi and sent him to religious school to study. Avi rebelled so his parents sent him to military school, which prepared him for his service as a helicopter mechanic in the Israeli Air Force and was the start of his exposure into engineering, science and technology. Little did Avi know that this was a decision that would pave his future career path.
