Just another ordinary day in Harney County. Yeah June first. Yeah a thunderstorm with platinum white lightning drove us indoors. Sure, waxwings and orioles and Yellow Warblers and tanagers parading bright eye magnetism at Malheur HQ. A Warbling Vireo so bland nobody would look. Nighthawks sleeping like large knots on vertical limbs. Then beneath the thunderstorm dozens zipping through the air, mouths open, gathering in the accursed mosquitoes who plagued our existence.
