Hello, I’m Astrid Cheney, author of The Magic of Special Children — an award-winning resource for parents and teachers of special ones like my now 50-year-old special-needs daughter, Dorica. My advice is based not only on my success as a parent in raising her, but also on my 26-year career as a teacher and mentor of special needs children in the greater Oakland, CA, community following my completion of the masters program at the University of California at Berkeley.
