My father was born on 17 January 1956 in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. He has always been a role model to me and has been my rock through thick and thin. He has always been supportive in every part of my life and has shown and given me the strength to stand on my own.
Following his military career in the 7th Duke of Edinburgh's Own Gurkha Rifles. After his military service, he has been working for a logistics company. In early 2022, he contracted Covid but soon got better. However, he travelled to Nepal shortly after and when he returned back to the UK, he was left feeling very tired all the time. Along with tiredness and fatigue, he also had shortness of breath and difficulty even climbing up the stairs.
He was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in the June of 2022 and immediately started chemotherapy. However, the Leukaemia had only dropped from 70%-24%, and because he also has complex karyotypes with his AML, the only way to properly treat his illness is to have a bone marrow transplant. He has had his second round of chemotherapy and should reduce the Leukaemia down to 0%-5% to go into remission. Then he can start his bone marrow transplant.
