While I lived in Seattle, I worked part-time for Dotty’s Pet Sitting Service. I had great experiences walking dogs, cuddling with cats, and helping people not worry about their pets while they were on vacation. When I moved to Oregon in 2005, I wanted to continue working with animals so I established Angela’s Animal Care & More.
Beyond working with clients & their pets, my dog & I volunteered as an animal-assisted therapy team. Children practiced their reading skills with Marilyn through the library’s Read to the Dog program. It was a thrill to see children learn to read or overcome their fears about dogs while Marilyn quietly sat with them.
After Marilyn passed away, I searched for a new canine companion. I found Trudy at Senior Dogs Rescue of Oregon. This little dog is overflowing with personality, but doesn’t have the temperament to be a therapy dog. Now my volunteer time includes Beaverton CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) so I have some knowledge and resources to help neighbors & clients in the event of an earthquake, flood, or other emergency. To supplement that, I refresh my pet first aid skills in classes from places such as Dove
