I am currently a post-doctoral trainee in Dr. Peter Turkeltaub’s Cognitive Recovery Laboratory at Georgetown University Medical Center. In December 2016 I received my PhD from the Department of Speech, Language & Hearing Sciences at the University of Arizona under the mentorship of Dr. Pélagie M. Beeson at the Aphasia Research Project . In 2011 I earned my Certificate of Clinical Competence as an ASHA-certified speech-language pathologist.
My research focuses on the use of structural and functional neuroimaging methods to explore the neurobiological mechanisms of aphasia and other acquired neurogenic disorders. I have a particular interest in understanding how the brain supports behavioral gains elicited by behavioral treatment when the language network is damaged by stroke or neurodegenerative disease. As a speech-language pathologist, I hope to conduct research that can one day inform clinical practice.
