The Kinder Cemetery Association (KCA) will present its 27th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 29, at the Kinder Bible Church (702 Fourth Ave., Kinder). The association’s annual Avenue of Flags also will be on display in the Kinder McRill Memorial Cemetery (1610 Kinder Cemetery Road, Kinder). The cemetery currently has 165 veterans interred, including Southwest Louisiana’s only Medal of Honor recipient buried locally, First Lieutenant Douglas Fournet, killed in action during the Vietna

Reese Willis was crowned the 62nd Miss Oakdale by outgoing Miss Oakdale 2022 Kaydin “Kay Kay” Strother at Saturday’s pageant. Hosted by the Oakdale BPW (Business Professional Women) organization, the event was held at the Oakdale High School. 2023 Miss Oakdale Resse Willis’ court, named at the contest, included first place runner-up, Rianna Williams, and second place runner-up, Cynthia Jackson.
