My name is Alix Chagué , I am currently a phD Candidate in Digital Humanities sharing my time between Paris and Montréal: I am a member of the ALMAnaCH research team at the Inria Paris Center and the CRIHN research center at the Université de Montréal. My research is focused on Handwritten Text Recogntion (HTR) applied to historical documents. It is supervised by Laurent Romary, Emmanuel Chateau-Dutier and Michael Sinatra.

Initially trained in the Humanities and in Art History at Université Paris Nanterre and the New York University , I graduated in 2018 from the Master in “ Digital Technologies Applied to History ” of the Ecole nationale des chartes, in Paris. I now specialize in Machine Learning technologies, in fields like computer vision and natural language processing, applied to historical and cultural data.

I co-founded the HTR-United project which aims at making training data for HTR more easily accessible. I contribute to the eScriptorium project and its usage by a broader community of users. In general, I advocate in favor of collaborative and open source initiatives.
