The Robert Ames Alden Theatre (The Alden) is named after the former Washington Post editor and community organizer, “Bob” Alden, who along with many members of the Greater McLean, Va community, made it possible. A division of the McLean Community Center ( MCC ), The Alden was part of the original concept for MCC , which was approved through a bond referendum in 1970.
Over the years, The Alden has welcomed community theater acts, performing arts , civic organizations and local schools, as well as touring live entertainment acts. Distinguished individuals who have graced The Alden stage include John Lithgow, Lesley Gore and Sandra Day O’Connor among many others.
