Introduction to African Catfish hatchery set up and management
African catfish was in Europe first introduced in the Netherlands in 1976. The first broodstock originated from the wild from 40 African catfish transferred from the Central African Republic to The Netherlands. Commercial farming of this species started in 1985 in recirculation aquaculture systems (RAS).
