Back in 2012 Tom Burritt asked me to arrange “Mara’s Lullaby” by Marc Mellits for the UT-Austin Percussion Ensemble to play at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention. It only took ten years, but we finally got the arrangement published on Marc’s website, thanks to a helpful nudge from Riley Warren, who brought it back to PASIC this past fall with his ensemble from Forney High School! Wrote this one during the last year to help students with navigating lots of changing meters and grooves while working around the drums, and I’m really happy with how it turned out!
