This Battallion was established through the notification number 2415-2751- B(3) dated 8/8/1963 by the government of Madhya Pradesh for the purpose of freeing the region from dacoity problem in the Chambal region of Madhya Pradesh. In the year 1971 the Battallion was declared as India Reserve Battallion and was centrally sponsored by Government of Indian and hence it was sent to different regions of Gujarat, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh.
