Description: Zaid Khan
I’m a 3rd-year PhD student in machine learning at Northeastern University’s SMiLe Lab , advised by Dr. Yun Raymond Fu . My primary research interest is in vision-language learning: designing more efficient / finer-grained methods for aligning vision and language, and exploring the capabilities of large language models for vision tasks.
Before starting my PhD, I spent ~3 years at two high growth startups ( Roadie , Intelligent Flying Machines ) as a software engineer, where I led efforts to scale data infrastructure to match growth, and worked on a range of challenging problems, including embedded deep learning, fault-tolerant distributed systems, realtime adaptive pricing, and data pipelines.
Outside of research, I lift weights, read (here’s my goodreads profile ), watch mixed martial arts, wonder whether randomness is real, and sometimes play a bit of Old School RuneScape.
