The Friends of the York County Library is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) volunteer organization formed in 1975 to provide advocacy and financial support for the York County, SC, Library. The group also operates Friends Books on Main , a book store at 206 East Main Street in Rock Hill, SC.
Through funds raised via book sales, memberships, and other activities, the Friends support a variety of library functions:
The 25-minute video, "A Community Place: Four South Carolina Librarians Talk About Libraries of Today", focuses on modern libraries and services they offer patrons. The video was directed by local photographer and videographer Terry Roueche. It was funded in part by the Friends of York County Library and the Friends of South Carolina Libraries, providing a glimpse inside four Palmetto State public libraries.
