In the process of transferring some old reels of tape to digital, I’ve discovered something very interesting and very rare: a performance by Tuli Kupferberg from a Fugs Reunion at the Mudd Club in New York City, in January 1982. This audio of Tuli was recorded by—and was given to me by—former WBAI producer John Fisk, who did hundreds of “field recordings” of musical performances and poetry readings around New York, especially for the Poetry Project at St. Mark’s Church. Fisk departed from this plane in 2004

sometime during the latter half of 1966 , when AM radio ruled the airwaves, WBZ’s late-night host Dick Summer started emceeing shows at Boston’s Unicorn Coffee House, which until then had mainly featured folk-music acts but had recently begun booking bands that had “gone electric.”   read more . . .
