This website was created to raise awareness of the unfair financial burden placed on the citizens of Tuolumne County by the excessive pay, benefits, and pensions of upper-echelon local government employees. It also aims to document the disparity in salary and benefits between the 20% of workers who do 80% of the work and the upper-echelon employees.
Tuolumne is one of the poorest counties in California. Yet, in 2021, we had a dozen county employees who were paid more than a Congressman, Senator, 4-star General, and Vice President.
In 2021, the median pay in Tuolumne County for a full-time private worker was $46,899.00 a year, but the median pay and benefits for a full-time county employee was $102,521.00. In 2021, the tax burden placed on us for the County’s employee compensation cost each resident $1,216.00. This amount does not include the cost of approximately 30 other local government entities.
