Troop 370 of Buffalo Run Valley was chartered in May 1978. It occurred with the natural progression with Benner Township Pack 370, both chartered by the Benner Elementary School PTA. Although the troop was chartered by the PTA, it’s main meeting room was the basement at Valley View Methodist Church. The Troop started with 6 Webelo Scouts from Pack 370 with two additional boys to make 8 scouts. The unit’s first Senior Patrol Leader was William Hughes. The Troop’s first Eagle Scout was Michael T. Davis.
Troop 370 has moved two more times, changing its charter to the Trinity Methodist Church in Bellefonte PA. At the time, 11 scouts from Troop 399 merged with the troop in 2005. Prior to that merger, Bellefonte Troop 330 closed its doors and transferred a few of their boys to Troop 370. Both mergers also brought great adult leaders together to strengthen the troop. At this point, Troop 370 was not just serving Benner Township, but also many other municipalities in the Bellefonte Area.
Troop 370 moved once again to the St. John Lutheran Church in Bellefonte where it operates today.
