My current practice brings together the hand crafting of printmaking and my digital video work from virtual worlds and online places. The basis is the creativity of Second Life, where my name is Tizzy Canucci. The two methods have commonalities, for example in the layering of colour, and of collage and montage. Early in 2021 I was awarded a PhD in Contemporary Art at Lancaster University – there is more detail in my Research Profile . Practice based, it included my video, images, printmaking and writing. I am particularly interested in connecting literary theory and translation, as human forms of communication, with visual theory and ethnography. This draws on my previous research and work on food writing.
I was winner of the International Visual Sociology Association’s Rieger Dissertation/Thesis Award 2021, for my doctoral thesis ( Falling between Worlds ) and associated video artwork. ‘The Awards Committee were very impressed by your creative and innovative work’.
