In my last post about building a budget starter gaming computer I included a 650 Watt Power Supply in the preferred build option as it would be able to support high-end CPUs as well as the latest NVidia GeForce Graphics Cards. There were some questions in some forums related to what power supply to use in the system, so I thought I would have another look around and see what I could find about it.

During my looking around I found that for a RTX 3080, which uses a maximum 320 Watts, it will run well even on 600 Watt Power Supply. Since the RTX 3090 uses a maximum 350 Watts, it should run well with a 650 Watt Power Supply. The RTX 3070 will draw 220 Watts, so that should easily work with a 650 Watt PSU.

Both of the rated power usages for the RTX 3080 and the RTX 3090 come from the NVidia web-site and are for the Founder Edition cards. It is possible that some of the graphics cards from other manufacturers will require more power.
