One thing was to buy a 2019 Nissan LEAF electric car that I absolutely love driving. There’s nothing quite like the instant torque and acceleration of an EV. My car is the SL Plus trim level (which Nissan no longer offers) with a 62kWh battery offering an EPA range of 226 miles. I only wish Nissan had embraced the CCS charging standard on LEAFs rather than clinging to CHAdeMo , but I don’t use it very often, so it hasn’t been much of a problem (yet).
I put about 12K miles a year on the car, rotate the tires every 7500 miles, add washer fluid, and swap out the wipers each spring. So far brake pad wear has been very moderate, as expected. I am participating in a voluntary battery health monitoring study by Recurrent . They hope to provide a way of evaluating the battery health of used EVs.
