It's more complex than just sleep paralysis. Realizing you're in a dream but being unable to take control of it or force yourself awake. Trapped in a dream until it decides it's done with you. 

Izzy's had more than her share. And she'd give anything to be awake right now. But she's just too tired. Though it's not like being less tired would help her out too much. If she never dreams up another butterfly again, it'll be too soon. 

There's a version of Izzy who didn't go down to Bureau to dispute her results and simply would've accepted what was given. She very nearly didn't get up that morning. And that's the sort of Izzy who didn't ask around about going home.
