Born in Dimona in southern Israel, I started my academic journey with an undergraduate degree in biology from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa. I was born in kibbutz Alumim and raised in Jerusalem. I obtained my undergraduate degree in biotechnology (B.Sc.) at the Open University of Israel during high-school. During my studies, I joined the lab of Prof. Ehud Ziv at the Unit for Diabetes Research in Hadassah Ein-Kerem hospital. After I graduated high-school, I joined the IDF and served for 3.5 years in a field intelligence unit.
