Well, I intended to start writing more last year. Let’s see if I can pull it off in 2018.
The state of the world is a mess right now and Seattle is no different. My political sensibilities are offended by both our national and our local politics. The current political climate in Seattle, seems dominated by those that vilify landlords while ignoring rampant crime. Property crime is off the charts, homelessness and junkies are everywhere, and there’s a lot of semi-automatic weapons going off on the South End that gets rarely talked about in the local media.
On the housing front, the current city council seems to not actually understand the consequences of their actions on affordable housing. Their ridiculous RRIO program is likely slowly and steadily eliminating sub-standard housing at the cost of the cities hidden small time landlord rental properties. And if you’ve ever tried to communicate with them, or use the website, it’s pretty bad. I guess I’ll check back on it in the coming month’s, because I have to deal with it more this year than I’d like.
