Born in New York, Scott Filler moved to California as a young child and grew up in San Francisco until he graduated high school. Scott then went on to the east coast and Brown University where he graduated with honors in a combined major of applied mathematics and biology. Before graduating from Brown University, Scott went to Kenya for a semester of his junior year and in that time he got malaria.
