Reading and writing are central aspects of our intellectual lives. While written texts are not the only parts of our media landscape, they maintain a critical place in our culture, documenting human knowledge and experience.
The Rebus Foundation acts as an advocate and champion for new publishing models and technologies. We generate ideas and initiatives for reading and writing on the web, while bringing people and resources together.
In parallel with our work in open publishing and augmented reading, we are members of the W3C, where we are helping develop a new vision for web-native text. We help combine the portability of printed works with the interconnectedness and flexibility of the open web.
