In October 2021, the US Department of Education used emergency powers related to the COVID crisis to temporarily fix the program with the “PSLF Waiver.” Now we finally have the program we always wanted. 180,000 Americans have already been approved since November 2021.
NOTE: This is not the same program as the $10,000 Loan Cancellation announcement - which is currently the subject of lawsuits and has not yet been implemented. The PSLF Waiver is the best path to total loan forgiveness for most government and nonprofit workers - and deadline remains 10/31/2022.
The PSLF.us Campaign is a nonprofit effort working with nonprofits, unions, and government agencies to help millions of public service workers get their loans forgiven.
