Treatment Realities of the Addiction Crisis This affects us, our loved ones, neighbors, community members, and colleagues. Nearly 30% more individuals lost their lives to overdose deaths in 2020 than in 2019. More than 90,000 people in America died from overdoses last year, a record high. Exponentially more people are grieving and impacted in immeasurable ways. Allegheny and Westmoreland Counties both saw increases in overdose deaths as well.
