I’m a philosopher working in the phenomenological tradition, but I have a broad spectrum of philosophical interests, both historically and on systematical terms.

I did my BPhil and Lic phil at the Universidad de Costa Rica, and graduated with a thesis on the development of Heidegger’s concepts leading to  Being and Time  from the standpoint of his early university lectures at Freiburg (1919-1923) and Marburg (1923-1928). My Dr phil was completed at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg in Germany, where I dealt with the irruption of phenomenology in cognitive science, the philosophy of mind, and the philosophy of psychology. I am currently Associate Professor

In general, I defend the fundamental autonomous character of philosophical reflection. Therefore, I do not render philosophy as an ancillary endeavor assisting somewhat timidly other research agendas. On my view, philosophy has its own dimension of problems and topics, so that equivocating this dimension amounts to the entire disparagement of philosophical thinking.
