As a basis for identifying what critical authorities convey the minimum information needed for one to be a believer, Integrity Syndicate affirms a condensed list of authorities that should be considered foundational as the basis for defining core beliefs, and are attested with the highest level of historical reliability. While others may consider a larger list to be authoritative including the entire New Testament canon of (later) tradition, we expect, that at the very minimum Christians should agree that
This list is sufficient for conveying the core essentials of the Gospel message for bringing people into the body of Christ with the hope of an inheritance in the Kingdom of God. It is this list of Foundational A uthorities that new or prospective believers should be focused on.
The below chart shows the methodology and rationale we suggest for making internal distinctions in the traditional NT Canon. This approach makes a distinction between Foundational, Peripheral, Supplemental, and Apocryphal Authorities. Tier 1 constitutes 51% of the Greek words in the New Testament, and Tier 2 is 49%.
