I am a DevOps and developer productivity expert who works with engineering organizations to make work better. Best known as lead on the Shingo Publication Award-winning book Accelerate and the State of DevOps Reports and co-author on DevOps Handbook 2nd edition , I have helped some of the biggest companies in the world improve their technology and deliver value — by transforming their culture, processes, tech, and architecture.
I am a Partner at Microsoft Research, leading developer productivity research and strategy , and a technical founder/CEO with a successful exit to Google . I am also a member of ACM Queue's Editorial Board . In a previous life, I was a software engineer, sysadmin, hardware performance engineer, and professor. I have published several peer-reviewed journal papers and have been awarded public and private research grants (funders include NASA and the NSF), and my work has been featured in the Wall Street Journ
