My research agenda focuses on how technology and the emergence of nonbank intermediaries are changing the banking landscape, and the implications for financial stability, competition, and consumer welfare.
I combine empirical analysis with theory and structural estimation. I enjoy constructing new datasets that can shed light on under-explored dimensions of financial intermediation, such as digital platform adoption and branch service quality. Coupling these data with an identification strategy and a model framework allows me to disentangle economic mechanisms, quantify aggregate effects, and evaluate counterfactuals.
