On Thursday June 8th, a fire began on hot creek road after an Oregon man was out shooting. Following the ignition of the fire, the man contacted 911 and attempted to put out the fire by throwing dirt onto the fire with his truck tires. Mountain Home Rural fire was first on scene and were able to extinguish the fire prior to BLM Fire's arrival. The fire was relatively small and was able to be put out before it spread further.
A massive storm front ripped through Mountain Home on its way to Boise and Kuna on Tuesday night. What had previously been a calm weather day soon turned hectic as wind up to 60mph pushed dark clouds over Mountain Home. The rapid change in weather led some to believe that Mountain Home was experiencing a micro burst.
