Description: Miguel Escobar Varela is web programmer and theatre researcher based in Singapore and Indonesia. He is interested in the combination of digital humanities and theatre research.
Miguel Escobar Varela, Ph.D. *My first name is pronounced Migel, with a silent 'u'. Following Mexican naming conventions, I have two last names: Escobar Varela.
I am a web developer, translator and theatre researcher who has lived in Mexico, The Netherlands, Singapore and Indonesia. I work as Associate Professor of Theatre Studies at the National University of Singapore. I also convene Digital Humanities Singapore . My main research interests are Indonesian theatre and the digital/computational humanities.
