September 4th, 2023 @ 11 AM – Happy Labor Day… It sure feels like Fall in Mammoth and around the Eastern Sierra today. Most areas picked up a bit of rain on Saturday, but it did not add up to much, just enough to moisten the dirt a bit in the high country. The weather looks great for the next couple of weeks, with some warmer but not hot days ahead.
September is the start of the shoulder season and is a great month to visit the Eastern Sierra and Mammoth Mountain. The Summer crowds are gone, and most days are warm mid-day with pleasant cool nights. It’s a perfect time to take in the last Summer activities.
The Fall Color season will be upon us soon; make plans to come up to the area in late September into October for what should be a very colorful show this year. I am already seeing some of the trees start the process of turning over. It could be an earlier show than usual, and I will keep you updated each week on what is changing now.
