The Mamirauá Institute for Sustainable Development (IDSM) was founded in Abril of 1999. It is a Social organization financed and overseen by the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications (MCTIC), as one of the Ministry’s research institutes. Since its foundation, the Mamirauá Institute carries out its activities through research, management and extension programs in the Middle Solimoes region, state of Amazonas, Brazil.
