A love for solving problems, expressing herself creatively, and creating social impact led Malavika to major in Operations Research and Financial Engineering and minor in Urban Studies at Princeton University. In her free time, she was a DJ on the campus radio station, worked as an IT consultant for the Princeton Office of Information Technology, and ran the weekly farmers' market for the university and broader community.
Given her intellectual interest in financial markets and passion for problem solving, Malavika joined Goldman Sachs, where she structured complex financial products, first for wealth advisors and then for large corporations. As part of her work, she developed marketing materials and interactive tools that explained how these financial products work and how their can solve your risk and reward objectives over time.
Seeking to create greater social impact, she moved to her hometown of New Orleans to work as a strategy consultant at EMH Strategy. Here, she helped a diverse array of organisations, from early-stage startups to large nonprofits, with program development, organisational design, growth planning, and strategic finance. She also volunteered as a mentor for the social impact accelerator Propeller and the Edible Schoolyard Project.
