Carson City Sheriff's Search and Rescue – "…so that others may live"
Description: Over 30 years since the inception of the Sheriff's Posse, the group has increased its membership and experience. Most of the SAR's job is to search for and rescue people in trouble out in the wilderness or people stranded or missing in park and recreation areas, such as Lake Lahontan. Other duties include searching for downed aircraft, mine shaft rescue missions, finding escaped prisoners or locating possible criminals who are evading law enforcement personnel and many other emergency situations.
Safety Tip: Create an emergency kit, which includes a first aid kit, food and water, flashlight, warm clothing, and road flares to put in your vehicle.
To assist the Lyon County Sheriff's Office in providing emergency search, rescue and back country medical aid services for residents in and visitors to Lyon County, Nevada. To provide emergency aid and assistance in times of natural and technological disasters. To provide assistance and other services to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office as requested.
